The changes affect Outlook.com, Microsoft’s consumer! service that includes addresses on the hotmail.com, live.com and! outlook.com domains.
Email remains a key channel for personal! and business communication. To improve security and maintain user trust, Outlook is tightening! requirements for senders. In particular, new rules and recommendations apply to domains that send more than 5,000 emails per day – they must now provide stricter email authentication.
Outlook is tightening its email security requirements by requiring SPF, DKIM, and DMARC settings. This is a step toward a cleaner, more secure email environment with less room for spoofing, phishing, and spam. The new rules will help legitimate senders protect their brand and improve email deliverability.
What will change?
Outlook is tightening requirements for senders who send more than 5,000 emails per day. In the near future, such domains will be required to correctly configure SPF, DKIM, and DMARC.
If messages do not meet these standards, they phone number library will first be sent to the Spam folder and, if not corrected, will be rejected entirely.
Senders will need:
- SPF (Sender Policy Framework) – must be configured correctly, with all authorized IP addresses specified in the domain’s DNS record.
- DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) – required to confirm the authenticity and integrity of emails.
- DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance)— the policy must be at least p=none and consistent with SPF or DKIM (preferably both).
Additional Email Hygiene Tips
Large shippers should also adhere to these guidelines to maintain quality and trust:
- Correct From (P2) Addresses Make sure attracting clients for psychologists – building a sales funnel using email and chatbots the addresses in the From and Reply-to fields are active, belong to your domain, and are capable of accepting replies.
- Working unsubscribe link Add a clear and accessible unsubscribe link, especially in promotional and mass emails.

- Be transparent in your communications
Don’t mislead with subject lines and only send messages to people who have given their consent .
Outlook can apply sanctions—ranging from filtering to blocking—to senders who violate these guidelines, especially if there are serious issues with authentication or database quality.
Effective Dates
We recommend that all senders, especially those who work with large volumes of emails, check and adjust their SPF, DKIM, and DMARC settings as soon as possible. This will help prepare for the tightening of rules that will begin in May.
Starting May 6, 2025, Outlook will mobile list automatically move non-compliant emails to the Junk folder. This will be the final warning, giving senders time to fix the problems.
Important: in the future (the exact date will be announced later), such letters will be rejected entirely – in order to enhance user protection.
